This is the face of someone capable of killing. In fact, every face on this website is a face capable of killing. Possibly every face in the world is a face capable of killing and for the most part has killed (even if it was indirectly). Everybody has a breaking point and Cho Sueng-Hui had obviously reached his. There exists no possible justification for what he has done and really his problem was basically that he needed someone to wake him up and tell him that life is what you make it. There’re so many out there who complain about little things that are sometimes due to uncontrollable circumstances and wish badly on others that do not have the same problems. People complain to no end about mediocre things such as a simple parking ticket but turn around to laugh and mock those who get one as well for parking retarded. I know plenty of people who, like Cho, complain about “rich kids” so passionately and never stopped to realize just how much they actually have. This is why Cho drew the last straw… because he didn’t take the time to realize that his life sucks because he hasn’t tried to make it better. Rather than sitting around and complaining and wishing badly on others we can all take an attitude check and turn things around. Small discrepancies in life only become a big deal if we make it one. There’re those in the world who live with the worst problems and yet still find a way to be happy for something. And yet there’re those who have no real problems but always seem to find one. It’s time to stop making excuses in life (my favorite one is “the white man’s keeping me down”) and begin to take control of our lives and make the best of what we’ve got. Bad things will always happen… to everyone but there is no reason for others to be affected by your hatred.
Somehow though I wish that people would stop seeing this kid as an evil person. An old gentleman told me once that I just didn’t know that there are truly evil people in the world but I refuse to believe it. Despite what’s in those religious texts and what is portrayed in over-dramatized crime shows (or any shows), I believe that things aren’t so easy and that everything isn't purely good and evil, black and white. I think that everyone does something for a reason and has somehow justified it to themselves in their heads. It ranges from “it’s okay if I eat two cheesecake slices in one sitting, I’ll just run a little bit more tomorrow on the flat stretch of land in which I have to drive to just to avoid a real workout” to “it’s okay if I cheat on my significant other and not tell them because in reality I’m doing them a favor by saving them the hurt of knowing” to “it’s ok if I pop this bitch’s ass because they’ve caused me to suffer, however big or small.” If you ever have to justify an action then it is probably not the right thing to do in the first place, I don’t care how great your lawyer is. That’s just how I see it. People aren’t really innately “evil” or “good,” they’re just selfish. When it comes down to it, everyone does what’s best for them whether it’s buying the cheap clothes made in other countries by children who are continually growing deformities and die before their time because of the conditions in which they work in to make those clothes, to stabbing your friend in the back because you’re jealous that he got the girl you want (or any girl at all) and then trying to make it so that he almost never gets any girls at all (until you get one). Well, to tell the truth, I’m sick of it all. I think the more I grow the more I become succumbed to the dominant ideology and so far that has been to not think about what it’s like in other people’s shoes. I’m not saying that people are inconsiderate. I believe that everyone is capable of being extremely nice and often times have shown compassion. But it’s rare for me to see people think about what it’s like to be the other and base their actions on the best interest for that person. We are nice, we are polite, we listen and we tell them what they want to hear. Is this behavior just encouraging others to think that what they are doing is right when sometimes it’s not? I feel like sometimes we're breeding bad behavior and bad outlooks because we simply want to be polite and encourage those in their thinking. Is the problem the person or the environment? All over the news all they say is that Cho was “troubled” but how many actually tried to help him beyond that surface kindness? How many people was he too stubborn to listen to? Any? The only thing that I wish is that people wouldn’t skew their vision of the world to fit their thinking but rather change their thinking to suit reality. I feel as if everyone prefers to live in the illusion that they make for themselves rather than the real world and that's why everything is going to shitz. That's why some people don't see or don't know what's really going on in the world because they rather believe the lies they tell themselves. We are lying to ourselves and we lie to others because we believe that they prefer to live an illusion also; that they're happier that way. But if we really want to save this world then we have to first LIVE in this world and change ourselves to fit the world, not the other way around. Also I think everyone needs to learn to give respect to others as equals and learn to take responsibility for every action (even when buying the water from the grocery store that’s imported from an exotic place on a oil tanker that burns a gallon of fuel every hundred feet or so and kills however many marine animals on its journey). It's so simple! Be a good person and make good decisions and that will reflect around the world. Somehow I don't expect anyone to have read this nor care what I say but the important thing is that it's here and I will be happy if one person contemplates it.
This is from my favorite Korean in the world, Mike Park, about the business that went about at Virginia Tech. It makes me think that the world is going to shitz because, even though it wasn't that extreme, a lot of violent acts and even shootings have been going on here in UW and these are Universities. I don't really see why people so young would want to kill each other. Maybe it's a sign that youth are becoming less and less respectful and reasonable.

Thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the shooting yesterday at Virginia Tech. It's frustrating when the news of another school shooting clogs up the media outlets. I often wonder what drives a human being to kill another? Or even the desire to fight at all. Aggression seems to be such a normal outlet for our species. Ultimate fighting, boxing, hockey, fighting, fighting, video games, killing, more fighting, war, terrorists, extremists, fascists, fighting, anger management, intimidation, being hard, ahhhhhhh....
The gunman was a Korean male who had been in the US since 1992. It's something that hit my mom a bit harder than the usual news of tragedy. The idea that a Korean could do something so horrible brought tears to her eyes, but I'm glad she realizes that we're all capable of committing horrible acts of violence. The Korean race is not pardoned from such activities.
Yes, this is not a normal newsletter for Asian Man Records, but I feel an important one. I tend to keep things lighthearted in hopes that my politics will not stronghold anyone to feel uncomfortable. Yes, our mission statement is loud and clear: NO RACISM NO SEXISM NO HOMOPHOBIA NO VIOLENCE But I realize a large part of the Asian Man Records community are young adults and I never want to shove politics down your throats. It's ironic that we are amidst a huge push for our sister non-profit PLEA FOR PEACE. Another trying experience as we have gone through countless hours of red tape in hopes of securing a permanent home for our youth center. But alas, the city of San Jose doesn't understand the need for a punk based music venue. One that is alcohol free and a safe place for our youth. We're running alone in the support department, but I'm confident the center will open this year. We've held various fund raisers and continue to raise funds through various outlets like tabling, benefit concerts, and public donations. There seems to be a new big brother in town and it comes in the form of unlimited entertainment. And the person on the other end is not only the government but also everyone you know and possibly 40 year old hermits with nothing better to do than browse through your drunken pictures. But seriously guys. The internet is starting to creep me out and the worst part is that it is becoming more socially accepted to watch people like so. I mean whenever I log onto a very popular college social networking program it floods me with information on what everyone on my friends list has been up to lately. Some people get in and out of relationships frantically while other gain more friends or leave or join groups constantly, some people attend different events in which I can see when they do or don't. Sure it's not stuff that I can't find out eventually if I look for it but it just makes a voyeur's job so much easier!! What am I to do with all my newfound spare time? I guess I could always pick up knitting.
Now what's even creepier is the new xanga. I mean the old xanga was really lame anyways but the feature I actually liked about it was uploading a gig of pictures and videos without needing to pay. However now they have a brand new feature which tells you how many people have looked at your page, who, at what, and how many times. Given that some people already have added on software for little things such like that (perverts) but now it's just a bit too much and extremely creepy. I can see that google.com has looked at my page 3 times a day... seriously google.com ... get a life. I also see who reads my subscriptions when it is emailed to them and also how many times they've done it. I mean this is the age where I can know everything I need to about a person by examining their computers but now I can know everything there is to know about a person through my own computer. How convenient.
As you all know I have a real talent for revenge and for all I know I should run a business of it. But based on recent observations there are a few things that everyone should know and probably do know but often overlook. Even though what I say won't solve any or all of the world's problems and is biased according to everyone's own inherit sense of right and wrong... but maybe it will solve irrationality.
Doing wrong to those who do wrong to you is never justifiable no matter how much you rationalize it in your head. You should never do the wrong thing in general really(and this really depends on what you perceive as the wrong thing). Nothing justifies you doing the wrong thing ever. You can glorify it, rationalize it, and/or excuse/forget it but nothing can justify doing wrong because the guilt will always be there and the suffering will always be there.
Doing the right thing for the wrong reasons is wrong also. You should never do the right thing because you expect something good to come out of it. Never do the right thing because you're a Christian, Muslim, Jew, Buddhist, etc and are expected to nor do it because someone (such as god) will smack you down if you don't. Always do the right thing because it's right and because you're a good person, not to expect some reward in the end.

Back in the day when everything was "magic," the Titan Iapetus bestowed upon us two sons, Prometheus (whose name means forethought) and Epimetheus (whose name means afterthought). Both bright in their own ways began the creation of humanity as we know it. Prometheus sculpted his creature in the image of the gods, being both beautiful and noble these creatures were also blessed with wisdom and the ability to walk upright while Epimetheus created more primitive beings who were blessed with courage, strength, swiftness, and various protective coverings. Unfortunately Epimetheus failed to make his creation intelligent and it became rather imperative when his creations ate him not knowing any better. Prometheus' creation however were only bestowed with wisdom and beauty and therefore Prometheus set out to give them their last gift. He then went up to heaven and lit a torch with fire from the sun. The gift of fire that Prometheus bestowed upon humanity was more valuable than any of the gifts the animals had received and for this Prometheus incurred the wrath of the gods. He was then chained to a rock on the mighty mountain of Caucasus where he would be preyed upon by eagles.
So in the midst of writing my next genius paper I stopped to ponder this particular question. Where would humanity be without fire? Can anyone answer me this?
An open bag of Twizzlers somehow makes everything around it taste slightly like Twizzlers also. So when I have a bit of sweet chile and sour cream chips to accompany my sandwich for lunch, I get this slight urge to eat Twizzlers as I'm crunching down my chips. By the way... the new My Chemical Romance CD is really really REALLY bad.
This is a leaf that fell on the surface of a sailboat where I like to take afternoon naps between my classes. One of the things that I love about fall is the color of the leaves or the way they imprint themselves on the surface of sidewalks or seeing them litter the ground in their graceful death. Trees are amazing and maybe one day we'll all live in treehouses because apparently they're "Eco-friendly" and have all the convenience of everyday houses... hey it worked for the elves right?
The rest of these are weeds from lake union natural area where there're a lot of bugs... a lot a lot of bugs. I had several of them hit me and die on my shirt in this experience which was unfortunate for them but also meant that I had to do laundry which was lame.
